If this padlock is displayed, then the start and end dates of the phases are linked: parent/daughter phases. When the parent phase changes from a meta-status (e.g. "in progress") to a meta-status "completed", then a pop-up is displayed, and the daughter phases of this phase can also change to the completed meta-status by clicking on OK. If you click on Cancel, only the parent phase goes to meta-status "completed". If the parent phase switches back to status "in progress", the daughter phases retain their status "completed" status.
