• A resource is assigned to a project or project phase .
• This means that this resource has to work on the project.
• Once the assignment has been made, the project appears in the project list for resource activity entry: assigning a resource to phases enables you to enter resource data such as remaining work or completed work.
• This action can be carried out by the project manager, the resource manager or the team member himself, depending on the rights and roles granted.

There are several ways of assigning a resource to a project or phase :

• From a project
• Since the capacity plan

From a project

To assign one or more resources to several phases :

1. Go to the desired project.
2. Go to the Summary or on screen schedule le remaining work.
3. Click on the Assign.

A new window opens: the resource allocation window.

4. Select one or more project phases.

The button Apply selection to children when a phase or project box is ticked, child phases are also ticked.
5. Select the category corresponding to the resources to be allocated.
6. Select one or more resources.

The button More criteria allows you to refine the resource's characteristics. Resource availability is displayed if only one phase is selected and if remaining work has been entered.

If your platform is configured with full management in hours, then availability in this window will be displayed in hours.
7. Click on Register.

The resource has been correctly allocated to the desired phases.

To quickly assign one or more resources to a particular phase : click on the + by hovering over a phase to allocate resources. Visit Wording of the resource and its availability will be displayed.

Since the capacity plan

1. Go to screen  Capacity Plan.
2. Display the capacity plan , with the desired resource, project and period filters.
3. Click on the  + to assign to a new project or phases.

The capacity plan must be grouped by resource in order to be able to assign them to other projects or phases. If the capacity plan groups data by project, the assignment button will not appear.

A new window opens: the resource allocation window.


4. Select the desired project, then one or more phases. It is possible to select the project phase .

5. Click on Register.

The resource has been correctly assigned to the desired phases. You now know how to assign resources to project phases. If the display options hide certain assignments, then a line Other assignments is displayed. This line contains consolidations of values for remaining work or completed not displayed.
