Understanding the Types of Addictions
A dependency links two elements in the schedule: a predecessor and a successor. There are four types of dependencies in the schedule.
- End-Start (FS): The successor does not start until the predecessor has finished.
- Start-Start (SS): The successor does not start until the predecessor has started.
- Fin-Fin (FF): The successor cannot be completed until the predecessor is completed.
- Start-Finish (SF): The successor can only be completed once the predecessor has started.
For example, milestone a milestone as a predecessor to a phase an End-Start relationship and a duration of 1, the phase 1 day after the milestone ends.
You can also add a delay (in days) between the predecessor and the successor.

When you select Phase and then Phase in the WBS section WBS the left, the dependency is added in Late-early, from Phase to Phase

When you select Phase and then Phase in the WBS section WBS the left, the dependency is added in Late-early, from Phase to Phase .
The selection order determines the direction of the dependency.
